Beryllium copper plunger tips
The innovative Approach to Plastic Mold Tooling
Hildreth Manufacturing, LLC is pleased to introduce near-net Custom Fabricated Shapes to plastic mold builders.
Why is a plunger tip producer offering Custom Fabricated Shapes to the plastic mold builder?
The answer is simple. We know beryllium copper. The management team at Hildreth has more than 100 years of collective experience in the metallurgical processes necessary to produce beryllium copper with unparalleled quality and short lead times.
We have now taken this experience and know-how one step further into the plastic mold industry.
Custom Fabricated Shapes
Custom fabricated shapes are available in alloys C17200 and C17510 as forgings or castings. Product forms supplied are rings, discs and square and rectangular sections, manufactured to near-net dimensions and age-hardened to your specifications.
Economic Justification
We know that the product forms and sizes currently supplied to plastic mold makers are not cost effictve. Product forms currently available have directed us towards a unique approach:
″To supply beryllium copper mold materials in ready-to-machine dimensional shapes to the mold builder.″

Quick Delivery
We recognize that "Quick Delivery" is a key requirement of the mold builder. Our Custom Fabricated Shapes can be delivered to your shop in less than 5 weeks. Our products are ready to load on your machine with no pre-processing required. We tailor logistics to meet your schedule.
Benefits
- Mold builder buys only what is needed
- Material savings up to 30%
- Reduced machining time
- Significant scrap reduction
- Minimal lead times
- Improved manufacturing efficiency
All Hildreth Custom Fabricated shapes are certified to hardness only and are 100 percent ultrasonically inspected to ensure consistency and soundness. Both forged and cast shapes are solution annealed and aged.

Setting New Standards
We have engineered proprietary alloys, HM-10 and HM-20, for excellent mechanical, thermal and wear properties, consistent high performance, and repeatable long tip life. We stock one of the industry's widest selections of plunger tips including custom sizes and industry standards, in addition to ready to ship machined stock tips of 2" through 5" diameter by 4" long in 1/8" increments, with 1/16" additional stock for finish machining to size by customers. These are available in 1¼ - 12, and in most cases, 1½ - 12 threads, in HM-10 and HM-20 alloys. We feature metallurgical, engineeringand design services and welcome custom specification orders.

Alloy HM-10
This Alloy is the traditional workhorse of the industry. The HM-10 performs well with most aluminum alloys along with many magnesium alloys.

Alloy HM-20
This alloy is a stronger, more durable alloy that performs well with today's exotic elevated silicon containing aluminum alloys, and magnesium alloys.

Opti-therm shot system
The OPTI-THERM SHOT SYSTEM features patent pending technology utilizing a heat sink for maximum thermal dissipation which allows for the use of a thicker than normal sidewall. The value is additional turndowns. Thus, reducing the purchasing of intermediate tip sizes.
